Mr. Axford was kind, always greeted me with a smile. We talked about how we both made the big move from Chuchville (we laughed about him being on the outskirts) to Dutton. Rest easy.

Geoff and Terry and families. Please accept our condolences on the passing of your father. It’s never easy losing a parent…. regardless of the age. We always considered your family as Silver Street neighbours. Mr. Axford was one of my teachers at WESS and for many of my siblings. Great memories!
My thoughts are with all of you.

Most of our memories of Rae centre around the Miller family get togethers. He was always there, part of the family. Sporting a grin, a twinkle in his eye (and sometimes a little good humoured teasing), it was always fun to visit with him during these special events. Rest in peace, Rae..
To the Axford family, we send peace, and our most sincere condolences at this time.

Rae was such a wonderful man and a wonderful teacher. His classes were always so interesting. He never lost his passion for teaching and sharing stories. He was a dear friend to my nephew Ben and family. He never lost his ability to relate to young people.
My condolences to the Axford family. He will be missed by all those who knew him.

Uncle Rae, my Dad’s brother a true competitor. Back in the 60’s at an Axford family reunion there was a foot race. 200 yard dash. I was about 12 years old & racing against friends & family including Rae. Getting close to the finish line neck & neck with Rae, I thought he might let me win. Nope. He turned on the jets & smoked me. A grin & a wink. Thanks Rae. Miss you

My condolences are extended to Rae's family. Rae was a loyal supporter of our communities and always made time to chat. After Rae moved to Dutton, he was a loyal fan at the ball diamond. Chatting with him after games, he would often reflect upon his days playing the sport...until the age of 70! He set the bar high and will be greatly missed.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Rae. I had great conversations with Rae when he came in to see me for his haircuts. He sure adored his family and loved hunting. I was so lucky to have seen him 8 weeks ago, and so happy that he remembered me, after not seeing him in 4 years. He was the same old Rae, reminiscing about the good old days. My deepest condolences to the whole family. Rae will be missed.

Geoff and Terry my deepest sympathy to you and your families. Your dad was a special man and made all those he taught and knew feel that way too. I loved being in his home room at WESS he loved to teach and build his students up. He would always call me Sgt. when he saw me in the hall with that big grin on his face. I saw him a few years ago and he still knew who I was.

Rae was one of the first teachers I met when I arrived at West Elgin in 1968. He and Joyce were such a beautiful couple and they were so welcoming to Mac and myself. I was always blown away by his blackboard skills…his handwriting was impeccable. Rae loved to share stories in the Staff room about baseball and hunting…both of which he loved. Mac and I were so lucky to have a couple of tours of Rae’s property where he delighted in showing us animal tracks and birds. I extend my sympathy to Geoff and Terry and their families and feel badly that I cannot do so in person.

Dear Geoff and Terry. Your Dad was Principal of Rodney Public School, and my Grade 8 teacher, before he joined the staff of WESS. I used to babysit for you and your brother Michael when you were just little boys. You called me 'Brenda Lee', thinking I was the rock & roll singer who was popular back in the day.
Your parents were a lovely couple, in appearance and in their friendly, gentle manner.
Sincere condolences to you and your families. I am so sorry for your loss. Do treasure the memories.
