Obituary of Fred Donald Walz

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Donald Walz on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Forest, Ontario, at the age of 91 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Margaret, Norman, Gordon, Kenneth, Lucien, and Leon, his first wife Dorothy (nee Barlow) and second wife Annabelle (nee Richardson). Fred will be lovingly remembered by his son William (Karen), grandchildren Heather (Darren) and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Rylan, Blake, Zaleigh, William and Patrick as well as his stepchildren Roger (Claire) Richardson, Karen Corbett, Brian (Judy) Richardson and step grandchildren Jedd, Seth and Dane.

Fred joined the RCAF in July 1949 spending his career as a Telegraph Technician. He became a commissioned Officer in April 1966 and retired in 1979 with the rank of Captain.

While on a posting to Whitehorse in 1958 he discovered a new hobby, tatting, which led to his passion for needle point, and petite point. During his retirement Fred enjoyed puttering around the house and yard while continuing with these passions and sharing them with others. Over his lifetime he completed more then 100 pictures.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the North Lambton Lodge in Forest for the compassion and excellent care they gave Fred. We can never thank Dr. Buckton, the nurses and staff enough.

We would also like to thank the Forest Baptist Church congregation, and the Legion for their support and welcoming him into their community.
