Coleen Karr

Obituary of Coleen Donelda Karr

Coleen Donelda Karr, lovingly known as “Taz” was a remarkable woman, loved by many and gone too soon.  She leaves behind her loving parents, Jack & Beth (Bryce) Karr, her twin sister and brother-in-law, Colette & Bill Michalis, and her niece and nephews Kallia, Steyios, Matheos and Theron.  She was the cherished granddaughter of Dorothy & the late Reg Perkins and the dear niece to Bruce & Jan Karr, Jack & Jean McPherson, Max & the late Joyce (Karr) Zavitz, the late Ron & Hilda (Karr) Yorke, Gary Bryce, Allan & Bev. Bryce, and John & Ruth Perkins.  Forever warmly remembered by everyone who knew her, including her many cousins, friends, and colleagues.  She will be remembered, loved, and missed by all.  Coleen enjoyed life and was happiest surrounded by her loved ones and when she was able to give back to the community.  Throughout her careers, her goal was clear, to help those in need.  She was a proud member of the 48th Highlanders.  She was also a devoted member of the Forest Legion.  Last November, Coleen raised the most for the Poppy Fund by stopping traffic at the lights in Forest and collecting donations.  During her career as a nurse, she worked in the Emergency Room, ICU, the Outreach Program, and was an Air Orange Flight Nurse.  While working fulltime, she earned her master’s degree in nursing from D’Uville College in Buffalo.  She became a Professor at Centennial College and inspired countless students.  Despite the lack of Stanley Cups and World Series wins, she was a devoted fan of both the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.  Not just a fan of sports but also a competitive athlete.  Coleen was a force to be reckoned with both on the ice and diamond.  She later traded her skates /cleats for good company around the fire at Paradise Valley Campground.  She was involved in every activity and was always willing to lend a hand.  She will be forever missed and always loved.    Those who wish to attend visitation at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Thursday, May 20, 2021, are asked to register by visiting https://signup.com/go/NNdWDve     The Funeral Service will be live-streamed and may be watched at www.forestfuneralhome.com on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 11:00 am.   Online condolences may be left at www.forestfuneralhome.com
