Featherstone, Kenneth It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Featherstone of Strathroy, on April 23, 2020 in his 82nd year after a short battle with Leukemia. Ken was born on June 23, 1938 in London. Ken leaves behind his wife and best friend of almost 59 years, Carol, son Don and wife Monique, daughter Beth and husband Aaron, grandchildren Dena (Ryan), Jake, Taylor and Logan. Predeceased by his mother Lodena, father Donald, stepfather Robert Ray, father-in-law Ernie and mother-in-law Ethyl. Ken and Carol where avid travellers, most recently taking their dream vacation to Ireland. He was involved in many local organizations over the years. Ken was the first President of the Strathroy & District Junior Achievement Organization. He was the first President of the Strathroy & District Minor Baseball Association. Ken had many years involvement with Strathroy Cubs & Scouts and the Masonic Lodge. Over the years, Ken had facilitated many municipal, provincial and federal all candidates question and answer nights. He was actively involved with the Strathroy Optimist Club holding many positions over the years. He was the first person to receive the Outstanding Optimist of the Southwestern Ontario District of Optimist International, first of 3 people to receive the District Distinguished Optimist of the Southwestern Ontario District of Optimist International and was a 7 time President of the Strathroy Optimist Club. He was also an active member of Veritas Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star holding many offices, including Worthy Patron. Special thanks to the nurses and staff on 1 South at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their care and compassion towards dad over the last few weeks. Also, thank you to Amber, Carol and Sarah at Parkwood Palliative Care for their kindness towards dad during his short stay and in his final hours. A private family service will be held. Public Celebration of Life to follow at a later date. Friends and family are welcome to visit Ken at his final resting place in Strathroy Cemetery.
