Ray Cosgrove

Obituary of Ray Cosgrove

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Ray Grant Cosgrove. In his 77th year, he passed away peacefully, at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 .

Ray loved the outdoors and fishing, spending much of his free time with a line in the water, hoping for a good catch.  Over his life, he lived throughout and saw much of the great Province of Ontario.  After serving our country in the Army, Ray spent much of his time working hard in municipal arenas, keeping the ice perfect, in Kitchener’s parks, maintaining the beauty, cleanliness and hospitality enjoyed by thousands of residents who appreciated his dedication and friendly banter.  He often worked his days off helping with tournaments for children’s baseball leagues.  Ray loved his family and was very proud to have seen the generations grow in his lifetime including 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Anyone who knew Ray, knew of his love of sports – especially Hockey, and The Canadiens above all else.

He is survived by his sisters Jackie, Catherine, Linda; his children, Mike Cosgrove and girlfriend Leslie Martins, Debbie Seifried, Grant Cosgrove and girlfriend Cheryl, Melissa Redekop and husband Frank Redekop; his grandchildren, Kyle, Sarah, Jaydon and girlfriend Candace, Matt and wife Brandy, Bree, Holly, Mason; his great-grandchildren Santana, Kaya, Dustyn, Destiny, Ryker, Phoenix, Natasha, Chase, Ella, Quentin, Jaxson, and Kohen.

Ray Cosgrove’s children would like to thank all our family and friends for all the support and kind words and condolences, during this difficult time.

In keeping with Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private funeral service at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Bay on August 7th, 2021. Due to COVID-19, there will be no public service or memorial.

If desired, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in lieu of flowers, can be made in Ray Cosgrove’s honour to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Donations may also be made to the family online by etransfer to email Raycosgrovesestate@hotmail.com
