Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Charlton

Charlton; Elizabeth "Betty" Mary (Née Skinner) On Sunday December 29th, in her 88th year, her guardian angels came and took her hand to a more peaceful and beautiful place, upon a long journey with Dementia. Daughter of Maurice and Bessie Skinner. Loving mother of Susan (late Ken 2011) Oke, Catherine (Larry) Purdy, and Laurie (Paul) McNab. Special grandmother of Mary-Lynn (Craig) Roskos, Steven Oke, David (Cindy) Oke, Marc (Jill) Purdy, Kara (Jarett) Hoglund, Krista (Chris) Corlett and Lindsay (Alex) Maurice. Great grandmother of Brent and Abby Roskos, Emma Oke, Kaleb, Haden, Lukas and Ryker Oke, Clare and Dane Purdy, Bailey, Taylor and Dylan Hoglund, and Jake, Avery and Jordyn Corlett. One of Betty’s proudest moments was being an RNA at SMGH for almost 27 years, where she cared for many with her heart on her sleeve. Upon retirement she continued to dedicate her time and services through volunteering with VON, Strathroy United Church, SMGH Women’s Auxiliary and the Social Committee at Trillium Village. On most days you would find Betty visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards with friends, or helping others. Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Strathroy on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 from 4:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday January 2nd, 2020 from 10:00a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Doug Miles will be officiating. Interment to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, VON, Sprucedale Care Center.
