Obituary of Rod Glen

John “Rod” Roderick Glen July 17, 1946- June 4, 2019

Passed away peacefully at Watford Quality Care. Son of the late Jo (2012) and John (2013) Glen. Loving brother of David (Iris) of Victoria B.C and Ian (Mary) of Ottawa. Beloved uncle of Kim of Campbell River B.C, Peter of Ottawa and Thomas of Ottawa. He will be missed by numerous cousins in both Canada and United States.

Rod was a proud and loyal graduate of Queen’s University, Kingston (Art ’70) and is very thankful to Queen’s for financial support in both Undergraduate and Graduate studies. He retired from teaching secondary school geography at East Lambton S.S, Watford. He was so blessed to have taught at a rural school with a core of dedicated teachers, fantastic students, supportive parents and community. A “Jewel” of a school.

Rod was a former councilor for both the Village of Watford and the Township of Warwick, Mason (Havelock #28) and Legion (Br. 172 Watford) member and friend of Bill W.

Thanks to Darlene (late Alan), Rod’s adopted “sister” and “nieces” Samantha, Lesley and Katie for all the laughs and memories.

Thanks to Alex, Ida T., Todd, Linda and Don, Barb, Jim and Ev, the caring staff at Brookside retirement living, Watford Quality Care and other for their support and assistance during various stages of treatment and daily needs.

Thanks to Denning’s and Jill Zavitz for their kind and professional planning assistance.

Beginning with early schooling in Indiana, Rod had a very interesting life, with many moves and schools; yearly visits to Ohio and Alabama visiting relatives; and a memorable trip to the Scottish Highlands.

Rod tried to greet at least one person, on a daily basis, with a smile, kind word or good deeds.

Friends will be received on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 12:30 PM until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 PM at DENNING’S OF WATFORD 232 Warwick St Watford. Private interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Donations may be made to Legion Br. 172, Watford Building Fund or charity of one’s choice. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.watfordfuneralhome.com
