Obituary of Maggie Collinson
Peacefully, at Chatham-Kent Hospice on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 Margaret “Maggie” Elizabeth Lloyd Collinson passed away at the age of 86. Cherished mom of twin daughters Myra Collinson Renders (the late Frank) of Chatham and Mary Collinson (the late Mitch) of London. Loving grandmother of Jessie (Blake), Tricia (Matty), Andrew and Kristine. Great grandmother to Emma. Dear aunt of Peter and Roderick (and their families) of Wales. She will be dearly missed by many friends and neighbours on Victoria Avenue, where her meticulous care was shown through well-swept curbs, manicured lawns and seasonal decorations.
Maggie immigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in southern Ontario. Her work ethic, “tell it like it is” attitude and industrious nature were unmatched. For many years she worked at Dekalb Canada overseeing agricultural test plots, after having worked in the fields with and mentoring local youth.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will be held to reminisce and celebrate Maggie’s life on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at Mamma Maria’s Ristorante, 231 King Street West, Chatham, in the rear banquet room, from 1 to 4pm.
The family would like to thank the VON team members (especially Mary Beth) who took such great care of Maggie, Dr. Wolting, as well as the staff of the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Your compassion was greatly appreciated. Also a special thanks to Denning’s Funeral Home for your kindness and empathy. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF CHATHAM (519-352-2390). Donations in Maggie’s memory may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.chathamfuneralhome.com.
