In Loving Memory
It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Janice Elaine Skiffington on October 7, 2026.
Janice was born on July 17, 1957, in London. Born and raised in Crinan, Ontario, by the late Lorne and Lois Carroll. She was the beloved wife of Gary Skiffington, with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, music, and adventure. She was also predeceased by her parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth Skiffington.
She was a loving mother to Ned Skiffington (Paige) and Leah Skiffington (Zac), and a cherished Nanny to her granddaughter, Paisley, who brought so much joy to her life.
Janice was a loving sister to Anne (Jack) Jamieson, Audrey Brown, and June Lunn, and was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Charlie Brown and Ross Lunn.
She was also a loving sister-in-law to Edward (Vivian), Anne, Joan, Sis (Bob), Barb, Linda (Rod), Marie (Denny), John (Heidi), and Judy (Pierre). She was predeceased by Al, John, and Gord . Janice will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
Janice worked for 17 years in the bakery at A&P, where she was known for her dedication and friendly nature. She later continued working alongside her beloved husband, Gary, helping him build and operate their successful catering business, Skiffington Catering. She took great pride in their work together and in the many people they served throughout the years.
Janice had a smile that could light up a room and a warmth that made people feel welcome. Her sweet nature, innocence, and wonderful sense of humour made her deeply loved by everyone who knew her. She treasured her friendships and the many beautiful people who became part of her life over the years.
Above all, family was incredibly important to Janice. She loved her husband, children, granddaughter, sisters, extended family, and friends with her whole heart. She found joy in the simple moments—singing together, laughing together, and simply being together.
Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely, the laughter she shared, the music she filled our lives with, and the memories she leaves behind.
Janice will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her love and spirit will remain with them always.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McCormick Home for the compassion, kindness, and loving care they gave Janice throughout her time there. We are forever grateful for the dignity and comfort they provided to Mom, and for the support they gave our family during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice's memory may be made to the McCormick Care Foundation or Alzheimer's society.
