Obituary of Gilda Do Rosario Moniz

Peacefully, with her family at her side, Gilda Moniz at the age of 91 passed away on Tuesday, February 3^rd, 2026.  Predeceased by her husband Francisco (1985).  She is the loving and adoring mom of Gilda (Jorge), Frank (Lorna), Lucia (Jose), Josie (Helena), Margarida and Armindo (Sandra).

Loving grandmother of Christopher (Nicole), Justin (Angela), Michael (Emily), Sara (Gabriel) Samantha, Bradley (Daphne), Sebastian (Sarah), Sawyer, Veronica, Ainsley and Amelia, and her darling great grandchildren; Sabrina, Francis, Julian, Juliana, Logan, Aurora, Eleanor, Sloane, Charlotte, Amari, Kyia and Liam.

Survived by her brother Armando (Fatima) Moniz and predeceased by her siblings; Margarida Moniz, Maria Pereira and Jose Moniz.  Also predeceased by her parents Jose Moniz and Rosa Amelia Moniz.

With one last act of love, our mother passed away, letting our family surround her in the last moments of life when her incredible spirit transcended this world.

That very spirit expressed itself through unconditional love for her children and family; protecting in its core and caring in its personality.  As the matriarchal pillar of our family, she led with confident opinions, an incredibly strong work ethic, a tenacity to continued learning, always managing to keep a sharp sense of humour and slight sarcastic comments!  Gilda was at her happiest when she was teaching children, serving her church community, cooking the most heart warming meals for the family or expressing her artistic side through her loom and knitting.

Gilda had an incredible energy that greated you with a cute smile whether she knew you or not, and gave the most comforting hugs to the ones she loved.

Words will never be able to describe how much your family will miss you Mom.  Thank you for everything — You will always be loved.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a visitation for Gilda on Friday, February 6^th, 2026 from 5-8 pm.  A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, February 7^th at 11 am at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy.  Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
