Obituary of Jose De Melo

Peacefully, on November 30th, 2025, Jose De Melo was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior at the age of 95. Beloved husband of Maria De Melo for over 68 years, he will be deeply missed by his ten children: Odilia (John) Cordeiro, John (Maria) Melo, Joe Melo, Victor (Margret) Melo, Leo (Angela) Melo, Louie (Holly) Melo, Lucy (Larry) Melo, and Walter (Marnie) Melo, as well as two children who predeceased him in infancy. He is lovingly remembered by his 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jose immigrated to Canada in 1965 from São Miguel, Azores, leaving his wife and six of their children behind in pursuit of a better life. After two years of hard work, he joyfully reunited with his wife and children.

One of Jose's greatest qualities was his profound love for his Lord and Savior. Throughout his three-year battle with cancer, he never complained, always carrying a thankful heart for God's mercy. He continually encouraged his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to love and follow Jesus.

Jose's faith, strength, and love for his family will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Denning's of Strathroy on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and will continue on Thursday, December 4th, at Bethel Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
