Obituary of Dylan Christopher Janes
Dylan Christopher “Dyl” Janes
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dylan Christopher Janes on November 19, 2025, at the young age of 34.
Dylan was the husband and best friend of Brittany Janes (Burke) and the proud, loving father of his two beautiful daughters, Aubrey and Madison Janes. He was the cherished son of Larry and Sophie Janes, and the beloved big brother to Samantha (Eric) Flemington and Tyler Janes. Dylan was also a treasured son-in-law to Garry and Brenda Burke, and an amazing brother-in-law to Brian (Carolyn) Burke.
He will be deeply missed by his aunts, including Barb Hopson, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Dylan was an incredible friend to countless people throughout his life, and his presence touched everyone who knew him.
Dylan will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his passion for hockey, and his ability to light up every room—he truly was the life of the party. He spent his career working at Pete’s Sports, sharpening skates since the young age of 12, where his knowledge of the game and his easygoing nature made him a trusted mentor and a friend to everyone who walked through the door. Dylan’s love for hockey extended far beyond his career; he was deeply involved in his community, volunteering his time to local teams and events, encouraging young players, and fostering a spirit of teamwork and fun. His dedication to the sport and to his community reflected his generous heart and his belief in making a difference.
Dyl never missed an opportunity to show how much he cared. He brought joy and warmth to every occasion. Above all, Dylan’s greatest joy was being the absolute best daddy to his little girls, who were his world.
A private family funeral will take place. A Celebration of Dyl’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Denning’s of Strathroy. Words of Remembrance will be held at 3:00p.m.
