Clara will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and her gift of bringing joy to those around her. With a wonderful sense of humor and a love for singing and dancing, she could light up any room. She had a soft spot for children, earning the affectionate title of “Nanny” in the Poplar Hill community and spending years caring for little ones at her home daycare. Clara’s heart was just as big at home, where she adored some furry companions, who eventually won her over, Barley the dog and Dora the cat. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, with her famous cherry delight and home-cooked meals becoming cherished staples. Deeply rooted in her faith, Clara was active in several churches, including Poplar Hill Baptist, Compass Community, Pinery Baptist, and Bethel Baptist. Her generosity extended far beyond the pews—she devoted countless hours to helping neighbors with errands and transportation and volunteered selflessly at the Cancer Clinic. Clara’s life was a beautiful example of love, laughter, and service, leaving an enduring mark on her community and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Compass Community Church. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with a 1-hour visitation prior at the Compass Community Church followed by a reception in the church hall.
In memory of Clara, donations may be made out to Parkwood Palliative Care Unit, London.
