Obituary of Daniel Gordon Brent

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dan Brent, aged 78, at Age Care Nursing Home in Parkhill, Ontario, on October 23, 2025.

Dan was the beloved partner of Louise Best, and a devoted father to William Stacy Brent (Samantha) and Gordon Tyler Brent. Affectionately known as Farmer by his cherished grandchildren — Owen, Ava, Mia, Hunter, and Ryerson Brent — Dan was also a proud step-grandfather to William and Julia Leyten.

He will be deeply missed by his caring brother Paul Brent (JoAnn), and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dan was predeceased by his loving parents, Anna and Gordon Brent.

Dan spent over a decade as a land surveyor during the late 1980s and 1990s, walking countless properties throughout Middlesex and Lambton Counties. He was a proud member of the Legion and a passionate card player, especially in bridge — where he was a two-time North American Champion.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dan could often be found cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, proudly wearing team jerseys. He also enjoyed walking the fields of the family farm, keeping a watchful eye on the land he loved.

Dan shared his wisdom and humour as a baseball and hockey coach, and later as a bridge teacher, always encouraging others with his insight and kindness.

As per Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Denning’s Funeral Home in Strathroy on Friday, November 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Dan’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
