A year after Clinton and I, Pam Hamilton, came to Canada from England we moved next door to Mary and Mel, Shawn was only around six and my son, Wayne, was five, Robin was a little older maybe 13. I also had baby Scott three months old. It wasn’t long before we became friends and Mary babysat my boys, and eventually added my youngest son, Warren, while we were working. We became very close friends and Mary took me to many social events at their church. I always loved to hear her sing. She had the most beautiful voice and often sang solo. Mary and Mel spent many Christmases at our house and we actually felt like family rather than just neighbors. They took our son Wayne to Nova Scotia with them one year and Wayne so enjoyed the fun he and Shawn had. Mary was a caring role model to all three of our boys, and a special friend to Clinton and myself. We share so many memories with Mary, a book worth I’m sure! We were blessed to have bought a house next door with love and friendship that will stay in our hearts always.
