Dear Family
Avery was always a welcome visitor to our schools in Elgin County. He would enter the schools with a huge smile, the joke of the day, donuts for the staff and a spring in his step. The students enjoyed his lively personality and self deprecating jokes about his hair grooming, Everyone enjoyed his visit and no problem re space, lighting, restless little ones etc. caused him to fret. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed telling us about all of his family and his biking adventures. Avery's license plate was a meaningful message to all "Smile". I was fortunate to teach in a few schools and Avery always remembered my name and other staff members at Scott Street School. There will be albums in a multitude of homes with school photos taken by Avery. May it help you to know in your time of great loss that Avery was held dear to many through his mission in life in bringing smiles and memories to many.
With Deepest Sympathy...Fran (Kenny) Wren

Sorry for your loss. Avery always had a special smile. From being the first bald adult I met, to combing my hair to snap my photo every year in school, to spending quality time with him in his senior years. He truly was one of a kind and an example of a life well lived.

Lorie and all Avery's family.
We will miss him as he was such a big part of our Strathroy community!
My son, Richard(Rick) wrote, from Toronto "What a wonderfully optimistic guy, how could a guy who spends 45 seconds with you every year during school photos, have such an impact? That was Avery's gift, Strathroy was lucky to have him!
My daughter, Merle wrote, from SC.USA "I couldn't agree more with Rick. I spent quite a bit of time with him as he and dad used to hang out. I used to love going to his photo shop and look at all the antiques. He was passionate about them. He made a hugh impression on telling me to never, never let them go; that they only increase in value and your appreciation of them grows as you mature, as well. I still have a doll that we found in the basement of our store and remember those words....
Praying for you at this sad time.

Much love to Julie, Herb, Dawn and Families...
From Your Rapelje Cousins, Kathy, Wayne, Deb and Family.
Uncle Avery was the leader of our family silly fun, instigator of adventure and naughty mischief. He was our exciting uncle, Don's best friend, Pat's favourite brother-in-law and forever loved partner of our precious Aunt Shirley. We can't think of Sundays present day without feeling a nostalgia for shared meals, adventures, conversation, family and love. We have missed Avery and have mourned the loss of his presence for quite awhile.
We are orphans now and we miss all of our family members who are no longer with us physically, however, we certainly have some cherished memories and experiences. When we get together, we can see and feel their contributions to every member in our families today and there is always the fun, food, high spirits, laughter, remembrances and most of all love. May we continue to gather and share those memories.
As time passes...the challenges of life will also pass...the memories will bring you comfort and recount the love we shared as a family. We are the proof...we have always belonged to this interesting family!

Dearest Julie,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad.
Back in the day in Strathroy, I remember the parties at your Dad and Mom's home on McKellar Street, and all the fun we had.
Looking back 60 years to those Strathroy days and the Colledge family makes me smile.
Avery was a pillar of strength to the happenings in Strathroy for many years and he will be missed by all.
Thinking of you with kind thoughts and hugs.

I was saddened to read of Avery’s death this morning and was so looking forward to meeting up with you in early May.
One of my great memories goes back to my Sarnia days, when Avery took a group of us to the cottage on Fawn Island for the day. Great company, good food and many laughs!
Be assured of my remembrance of him as I offer Mass this weekend for the repose of his soul.
Prayers and sympathy for all,

Dear Herb, Julie, Dawn & all who loved Avery,
I'm so very sorry for your great loss.
I have so many fond memories of Avery.
Avery's patience with us growing up, especially as I look back now, was absolutely extraordinary. Avery was an incredible hockey coach. He saw the best in all of us, most importantly for the ones that didn't see it in ourselves. Avery handled us with a calm, fair and humorous hand.
One of Averys greatest talents was making a kid like me look presentable in my school pictures.
Avery was more then my best friends father. Avery was my friend.
Thanks for sending me back to the dressing room coach!
He'll be missed.
