Obituary of Maria Joanna Nedvidek

Maria Joanna Nedvidek

August 20, 1932 – February 28, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria (Mary) Joanna Nedvidek (nee Theuns) on February 28, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Wuustwezel, Belgium, on August 20, 1932, Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She was the cherished wife of 63 years to the late Frank Nedvidek and the beloved daughter of the late August and Anna (nee Marijnissen) Theuns.

Mary will be deeply missed by her children, Francis, Diana, and Michael (Julie) Nedvidek, and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Hélena, André, Christian, Brendan, and Andrew Nedvidek.

She was a dear sister to Jeanne (Sooi) Buyckx, Frank (Adele) Theuns, John (Bertha) Theuns, Isabella (John) Wiseman, Louise (Marcel) Raaymaker, Anne (Louis) Devolder, Hilda (Don) Clarke, Josie (Lyle) Papps, and sister-in-law Frances (Jerry) Nedvidek. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mary’s life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and love. From her early years in Belgium through the trials of war to building a new life in Canada, she embraced every challenge with determination. Mary worked hard throughout her life, always pushing herself and others to do their best. But what truly brought her joy was family, togetherness, and the simple moments shared with loved ones. Above all, she believed in cherishing family, supporting one another, and making time to enjoy life. Her legacy of love and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Mary’s kindness, strength, and love for her family will always be remembered.

A Memorial Mass to honour Mary’s life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 95 Marlborough St. N., Blenheim on March 15th, 11:00 am, with lunch to follow.

As an expression of sympathy, online condolences and donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. www.strathroyfuneralhome.com
