We miss Blake very much. I recall a conversation we had some time ago just after I had joined the chorus. Blake asked me how I enjoyed singing bass, and I responded that it sure was better than trying baritone. Blake smiled and said yes, we are special. What a great sense of humour.

The first time I meet my uncle Blake was the day we lost my nanny. He and Aunt Audrey are the sweetest couple. Unfortunately they were not close with my dad ( uncle Blake's brother). I wish they were. How different my life would have been. He is such an inspiration. I wish I could attend his service, unfortunately I am having a procedure done on my back on the 7th. My heart is with my Aunt Audrey and cousins. You are all in my heart.

Dear Audrey and Janis and Meribeth . Blake is such a big part of all my childhood memories . He will be missed terribly. He leave such a legacy with his art work , his singing , teaching , decorating , renovating building ,sculpting , painting, his smile.
Plays we put on at church .Also his family.Life is not fair the people who do so much for others should get immunity to these awful diseases. Parkinson’s is a beast . I will continue to walk and raise money in Blake and my mom’s name for as long as I can. The world lost a gem ,now an angel.
I will alway remember how kind he was and loved him to pieces.
Love Bea and Lesley Hutton

Dear Audrey and Family - We send our sincere condolences to all of you. We have many memories of visits to your swimming pool while on summer holidays at our Grandma and Grandpa Miller's house on Glover Crescent in Mt. Brydges. Grandma always made us make the phone call to ask if we could come swimming. We thank you for many afternoons of fun in that pool and even better memories of you and Blake being gracious hosts. I know Aunt Sheila and Uncle Lawrence had many years of friendship with you as well. May your many memories of Blake help you at this very sad time.

I met Blake in the 1950's at Teacher's College.
He then married Audrey who was a room mate until they were married in 1960.
Covid and Blake's illness put an end to our yearly lunches together.

My sincere condolence to Audrey and the family of Blake Hughes.
I met Blake when I went back to high school as an adult student. I had a love for art since I was 4 years old. Blake was my teacher for grade 9 arts to grade 11 art history. Blake was the best teacher, a no nonsense one and you had better have your homework done! I learned so much. Later in life when I travelled to England and other places, Art Museums were alway the most important places for me to visit. These times were when I realized why Art History was so important that Blake taught.
Blake taught many art classes over the years and I attended as many as I could. Audrey would make cookies for us when the art classes were held at Blakes's Art Studio in Mt. Brydges. Blake was always willing to help if you had a problem in finishing an art project or picking out a frame. He made beautiful quilts sewing all the pieces by hand - he could do anything!
Thank you, Blake, for the many joys of painting and being a friend. You will never be forgotten!

I was very fortunate to meet Blake in my early twenties. He became a father figure too me, providing support, guidance and love. He was a true Renaissance Man. I have two paintings and a beautiful hand knit sweater from Blake (The sweater was a project I took on, and I begged Blake to take over as I was making a complete mess of it.... We had such good laughs about that crazy sweater).
Thank you Blake for being such a wonderful part of my life.
