Obituary of Jacoba Bos

JACOBA "COBY"  BOS.

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacoba "Coby"  Bos announces her passing to be with her heavenly Father on September 14th, 2022 , at the age of 89 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Peter and Mary Bos, Alice and Mark Vander Vennen, Irving  and Margaret Bos, Annette and Edward Weesjes, Renee and Paul Weavers, Randall and Sherri Bos, and Marvin Bos and Jeni Austin. ‘Grandma’ will also be fondly remembered by her 28 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her siblings Hank (Greta✟) Plug,  Audrey (Bill) Van Reenen, and John (Nancy) Plug and her sister-in-law Diane (Peter✟) Plug.  Mom was predeceased by our father Ralph Bos (2019), our brother David Bos (2003), her parents Pieter and Neltje Plug, and her two brothers, Peter (Diane) Plug and Bill (Lila) Plug.

Mom was  born in Noordwijk a/z, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in 1947 where she met her husband, and were married in May of 1953. Dad and Mom first lived in the Kerwood area, where their oldest son David was born. David was followed by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mom exhibited her Christian faith in words and actions daily, teaching us by example. Her love of writing and music have inspired many of us to do the same. Her respect and care for the dignity of human life was shown beautifully through her VON volunteer work, caring for the terminally ill.

We thank our God for the life of our mother.

A time of visitation will be held at Denning’s of Strathroy,  32 Metcalfe St W, Strathroy, ON N7G 1M6, on Friday September 16th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Out of love and concern for those who are vulnerable, please respect our request to wear masks when visiting.

Private family interment will be held, followed by a public memorial service at Providence United Reformed Church on Saturday, September 17th at 3:00 PM.  An outside reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Strathroy Community Christian School would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank all those who supported Mom, and the care-givers as they cared for her.
