Her prayers have been answered. Dorothy Leone Doerr (Gray) passed peacefully on February 4, 2022, at the age of 88. Some of her final words include ‘tell my friends not to be sad, they stuck by me a long time and I’m grateful’ and ‘I have lived a good life and it’s time to go’. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Carol Nash, her sister-in-law, Audrey Sutton, her nieces, nephews and friends. Born August 23, 1933, in London ON. Leone was the eldest child of Helena & George Gray. She grew up during the Great Depression watching her mother work outside the home to help support the family and the struggles this created in the marriage. Leone helped raise her siblings and was there to support her mother when her father died suddenly and prematurely. During these formative years she learned to be frugal, to take care of herself and to appreciate everything she earned. As a young woman she loved spending time at the beach with friends and after a long courtship she married the love of her life, the late Harold Doerr on November 9, 1956. They were happily married for 47 years. Graduating H. B. Beal Technical and Commercial High School with her Grade 12 diploma, Leone secured her first job as Typist and Accounting Clerk with the Provincial Court. In 1970, after proving herself a capable and dependable leader she was appointed Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Middlesex and by 1976 her appointment was extended to include the Province of Ontario. She presided in Young Offenders Court, Bail Court and Provincial Offences Court. During this time Leone also completed the Ministry of the Attorney General Management Development Program and went on to supervise, lead and mentor a number of colleagues, some of whom remained in contact with Leone until the end of her life and continue to this day to speak highly of her accomplishments and quiet but firm leadership. Leone retired in 1994 making more time for her and Harold to enjoy horse racing, the casinos and traveling with time spent in Florida, Palm Springs and Las Vegas. She was a supportive caregiver as Harold lived with and struggled with cancer. After his passing in 2003 her independence and strength carried her through her grief and she went on to enjoying day trips, meals out with friends and family with shopping becoming her favourite pastime. Leone will be remembered and missed by many of us. She loved and was loved in return. She enjoyed her life and shared her kind and generous spirit with everyone who was privileged to know her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seasons Retirement Home in Strathroy who cared for Leone with great compassion and dignity during her time with them and to the staff at Strathroy General who helped make her final days as comfortable as possible. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will gather in the Spring at St. George’s Cemetery in Hyde Park to scatter her and Harold’s ashes in the scatter garden. To honour her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Anova in London ON. Anova provides safe places, shelter, support, counselling, and resources for abused women, their children, and all oppressed individuals to find a new start - a cause that aligned with Leone’s values and one which she advocated for during her career. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
