Sandra Kirkwood

Obituary of Sandra Lee Kirkwood

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing our our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister Sandra Kirkwood (nee Brown) of Arkona, formerly of Grand Bend on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:50am. In her 52nd year, after a shocking and quick battle with cancer, she passed peacefully, held in the embrace of her daughters Kaila and Cassie. Upon her arrival to heaven’s doors she realized she was in good company as AC/DC’s founding member Malcolm Young had departed this world on the same day.   Sandra is survived by loving children Justin Ayers, Kaila Kirkwood, and Cassandra Kirkwood (Nick), granddaughter Aria, mother Connie Brown, sister Brenda DeVries (Tim), brother Brian (Kathy), and Brad Brown. She was predeceased by father Bruce Brown (2006). She will also be sadly missed by many close relatives and friends.  Sandra was a caring individual that assisted in personal care positions. Sandra was known for her adventurous spirit and colourful personality who enjoyed a passion for music, and horticulture.   The family would like to extend special thanks to night nurses Jordan and Trish day nurses Patty, Sherry and Chrissy, Social Worker Valentine and Clerk Marissa and the rest of the staff at 1 South Strathroy General Hospital for their incredible compassion and care.   Sandra’s wishes for a cremation have already taken place. We will be holding a “Celebration of Life” (Party) to be held for Sandra at the Mount Brydges Legion (33 Veterans Drive, Mt. Brydges ON) on Sunday December 3rd from 4pm-10pm to share in the memories and stories of her life, enjoy some good food and great music. Please RSVP attendance if possible to bdevries_22@icloud.com.  Condolences can also be made on Denning’s of Strathroy www.denning.ca . We have opened trust account for her two daughters to assist with college tuition. If you are interested in donating in Sandra’s memory to help the girls please contact Brenda at bdevries_22@icloud.com for instructions with how to contribute.
