Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Hay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Hay. Dorothy (Wolf) passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank in 1998, after 53 years of marriage. Dorothy was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 26, 1926, daughter of Michael and Eva Wolf. She had two brothers, Michael and Bill, who predeceased her. She is survived by her loving children Jim Hay, Curtis Hay and his wife, Christine Hay, Laura Beamish and her husband, Douglas Beamish, as well as her devoted grandchildren, Shauna and her husband, Jeff Keene, Michael Hay and Kelly Schultz, Meaghan and her husband, Mark McKillop, Marci and her husband, Igor Ivanic, Catherine Beamish and Christina Beamish. Adored great-grandmother of Owen Doherty, Channer, Calleigh, and Clarkson Keene and Holden McKillop. Loved by Sue Hay. Dorothy will be greatly missed for her generosity of spirit, warmth of friendship and beautiful smile. She touched the lives of many through her compassion, strong Christian faith and humility. Dorothy loved being at her cottage at Fletcher Lake, using her paddle boat and ski-do, swimming and walking on nature trails. She was very active in the church, being Superintendent of and teaching Sunday school, singing in the church choir and actively participating in Lady’s Aid. She was an enthusiastic member of the West Elgin Choral Society, where she sang soprano for many years. In her youth she played violin, French horn and was the drum majorette of her High School marching band, winning awards of distinction. She composed music which she performed at public events. She was passionate about Creative Arts, writing poetry, songs and stories. Dorothy loved her family with a big heart. Her generous nature and positive approach to celebrating life every day will forever be in the hearts of her family. She was a tremendous role model, champion for right and she embraced her family with unfailing support and strength. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 108 Graham St., West Lorne, Ontario. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 24298 Pioneer Line, West Lorne.
